CLIMigrate to KDV 26.3

Migrate an existing CLI project KDV v26.3+

KDV 26.3 replaces the former integration-plan and task DSL with normal project files, Docker Compose services and optional Make targets. Existing projects are not converted automatically.

Command and configuration changes

Before KDV 26.3KDV 26.3
kdv test integration plan.yamlkdv project run <service>...
CLI-managed mock serversProject-owned services in compose.yaml
Manifest dependenciesCompose services and dependencies
Manifest tasksMake targets, scripts or CI jobs
kdv project execDirect project scripts, Make or Docker Compose commands
kdv bundle pubmodThe artifact repository already used by the organization

kdv project test now means isolated JavaScript unit tests. It does not start Kubling or execute the former integration test plan.

Migration procedure

  1. Generate a new project with the starter closest to the existing workload.
  2. Move the application configuration, descriptor sources and Module sources into the generated project.
  3. Declare those inputs and runtime environments in kubling.yaml.
  4. Add providers, backing systems, fixtures and test runners to compose.yaml.
  5. Move fast JavaScript tests under tests/ using the new test API.
  6. Represent real integration checks as Compose services labelled for KDV.
  7. Run project validate, project test, project up and project run --profile dev before replacing the previous pipeline.

project init --from copies an existing project that already satisfies the KDV 26.3 manifest. It is not a converter for the former manifest or integration-test format.

Keep the old pipeline available until the new project passes both test levels:

./kdv project test ./kdv project up ./kdv project run --profile dev smoke ./kdv project down

In CI, use a fresh instance with automatic cleanup:

./kdv project test --format json ./kdv project run --profile ci smoke

Replace smoke with the test-service names declared by the project.

See Project structure for the manifest and file ownership model.
