Install on Debian and Ubuntu

The official Kubling APT repository distributes selected components as signed Debian packages. Configure it once on a Debian or Ubuntu system, then install the Engine, CLI or provider packages available for that host.

Configuring the repository does not install Kubling or change an existing installation. Package availability is component-specific. Check the repository or the component’s documentation for the exact package name before installing it.

APT pin priority100

The repository uses a dedicated keyring through Signed-By. Its key is not added to APT’s global trust store. The preference file assigns priority 100 only to packages whose metadata declares the Kubling origin, so the repository does not unexpectedly replace unrelated system packages.

Configure the repository

Install the bootstrap tools

sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install --yes ca-certificates curl gnupg

Download and verify the signing key

curl --fail --silent --show-error \ https://apt.kubling.com/kubling-archive-keyring.pgp \ --output /tmp/kubling-archive-keyring.pgp fingerprint="$( gpg --show-keys --with-colons /tmp/kubling-archive-keyring.pgp | awk -F: '$1 == "fpr" { print $10; exit }' )" printf '%s\n' "$fingerprint" test "$fingerprint" = 'EE4EB1C333FE0B8015B51551183C6C107C768DAB'

The final command must complete successfully. If it does not, stop and do not install the downloaded key.

Install the key and repository definitions

sudo install -o root -g root -m 0644 \ /tmp/kubling-archive-keyring.pgp \ /usr/share/keyrings/kubling-archive-keyring.pgp curl --fail --silent --show-error \ https://apt.kubling.com/kubling.sources \ --output /tmp/kubling.sources sudo install -o root -g root -m 0644 \ /tmp/kubling.sources \ /etc/apt/sources.list.d/kubling.sources curl --fail --silent --show-error \ https://apt.kubling.com/kubling.pref \ --output /tmp/kubling.pref sudo install -o root -g root -m 0644 \ /tmp/kubling.pref \ /etc/apt/preferences.d/kubling.pref

Refresh the package metadata

sudo apt-get update

The canonical bootstrap files and a plain-text copy of these instructions are published at apt.kubling.com/README.txt.

Find and install a package

List the Kubling packages currently visible to APT:

apt-cache search --names-only '^kubling($|-)'

Inspect the candidate version, then install the exact package named by the component’s documentation:

apt-cache policy <package-name> sudo apt-get install <package-name>

APT records the installed package version and uses the same repository for future upgrades. Components remain independently versioned even when they are distributed through the same repository.

Remove the repository

Remove the source, preference and scoped keyring, then refresh APT metadata:

sudo rm -f \ /etc/apt/sources.list.d/kubling.sources \ /etc/apt/preferences.d/kubling.pref \ /usr/share/keyrings/kubling-archive-keyring.pgp sudo apt-get update

This removes the repository configuration but does not uninstall packages that were installed from it.
