Build Modules KDV v26.3+
KDV builds a Module from a source directory so projects and deployment pipelines do not depend on its internal distribution format.
Build a standalone Module
mkdir -p dist
./kdv bundle genmod ./my-module \
--output ./dist/my-module \
--parse--parse validates every JavaScript file before the output replaces any
existing artifact. KDV also validates static imports and rejects imports that
escape the Module source directory or resolve to a missing file.
The build is deterministic: the same source files produce the same Module content. Binary assets are preserved without text conversion.
Use an explicit output path in scripts and CI. This makes the artifact name a deployment decision instead of relying on the CLI’s default filename.
Build Modules as part of a project
Declare source directories or prebuilt Module artifacts in kubling.yaml:
runtime:
descriptor: descriptor
modules:
SQL_FUNCTIONS_BUNDLE: sql-functions
TEMPLATE_FUNCTIONS_BUNDLE: template-functionsEach environment-variable name must end in _BUNDLE. KDV builds source
directories during project build and supplies the corresponding runtime
variables. A production deployment can include the resulting Module artifacts
in a project-specific image or publish them and pass their Kubling-supported
URIs to the official runtime image.
Use the standalone bundle genmod command when a Module has its own release
lifecycle or is shared by multiple projects.
See Build and deploy for the two delivery models.
Publish and consume Modules
Publish versioned Modules through the artifact repository already used by the organization. KDV does not define a separate Module registry.
Recommended lifecycle:
- validate the Module source and its tests
- build the Module with
bundle genmod --parse - calculate and record its content digest
- publish it under an immutable version
- update the consuming project or descriptor reference
- rebuild and test the project before deployment
For semantic model packaging and digest verification, see Semantic Modules. For the runtime loading sequence, see Artifacts.
